About The Business

Dodo Vegan Hut (M) Sdn Bhd is the manufacturer of Halal certified plant-based frozen food products. Initially registered as a Sole Proprietorship with SSM in January 2022. It operated from a commercial kitchen in Bayan Lepas, Penang. In July 2023, the business upgraded to a Private Limited Company (Sdn Bhd) and acquired a production facility in Simpang Ampat, Penang. Subsequently, production shifted from Bayan Lepas to Simpang Ampat in October 2023.

The facility is registered with Local Council (MBSP) and Ministry of Health (MoH), Malaysia – FoSIM. All the production staff, including the founder, are MoH certified food handlers. The business and all the products manufactured by Dodo Vegan Hut (M) Sdn Bhd are now certified Halal by JAKIM Malaysia with a registration number, MS1500 1130-02/2024. 

The vegan and vegetarian food market is saturated with so-called plant-based products made with unhealthy ultra-processed ingredients and artificial or chemical additives, including harmful additives and preservatives. To address this gap, Dodo Vegan Hut formulates its signature products using real plant ingredients such as legumes, grains, nuts, seeds, root vegetables, herbs, fruits, and other plant-based goodness, avoiding ultra-processed ingredients and unnecessary chemicals/artificial ingredients. Dodo Vegan Hut’s production processes are well controlled for safety and quality, complying with Ministry of Health – MeSTI and Halal food regulatory requirements.

The real plant-based ingredients in Dodo Vegan Hut products provide significant amounts of protein, dietary fiber, essential phytonutrients, vitamins, minerals, and complex carbs, making the products highly nutritious with all-natural functional properties.

The business has no direct competitors in Malaysia. However, the presence of ultra-processed plant-based food product manufacturers in Malaysia is significant. Dodo Vegan Hut previously was only in B2B market but in February 2024, with the launch of its online shop at www.dodoveganhut.com/shop the business has started serving B2C market. However, the focus is still B2B as it’s looking at supplying its highly nutritious plant-based products to hospitals, corporate, and large organisations while seeking opportunities to export. 

About The Founder

Manimegalai Parry is the founder and director of Dodo Vegan Hut (M) Sdn Bhd. She is an engineer by profession with 18 years of multinational corporate experience. She left Intel Penang in 2020 due to a chronic arm injury and decided to pursue a business that is very dear to her heart. Struggling to cook healthy plant-based meals for her family, she saw this as an opportunity and embarked on research about healthy plant-based food and how to prepare easy-to-cook, highly nutritious meals. Her research and passion led to the establishment of Dodo Vegan Hut, offering a solution to mothers and individuals with hectic schedules.

The business produces plant-based convenient (frozen) foods that are healthy and cruelty-free, catering to individuals with busy schedules who cannot find time to prepare healthy meals for themselves and their families. All ingredients are meticulously sourced and formulated by Manimegalai herself, with expert advice from food technologists on processes, especially packaging and natural preservation. She ensures that no ultra-processed ingredients or chemicals are added for flavoring, preservation, or coloring.

Furthermore, Manimegalai is on a mission to empower women and support local ethical businesses. She prioritizes hiring women and seeks opportunities to collaborate with female entrepreneurs. Her business is operated by a team of highly competent and self-driven women.

As a certified food handler, she actively participates in production activities to ensure robust production processes are in place, facilitating food safety and quality while meeting daily throughput requirements.

Dodo Vegan Hut believes every ingredient matter, our food products are easy-to-cook, responsibly sourced, prepared and packed with high quality and flavorful plant-based wholesome ingredients.

All our products are free from animal ingredients, animal by-products, animal-derived ingredients, artificial/chemical flavouring, colouring and preservatives.

Our Standard

Dodo Vegan Hut’s products are carefully and diligently prepared and packed by Malaysian Ministry of Health (MoH) certified food handlers and production facility and products are HALAL certified by JAKIM Malaysia.
 
Packaging of Dodo Vegan Hut products involves vacuum sealing in freezable food grade bags and further securely sealed in freezable food boxes to avoid any kind of contamination during storage or transportation. In addition to that, packed products are always stored in temperature below -18⁰C for freshness and natural preservation
